Privacy policy

The short version The Dazr browser does not collect, transmit or store any user data on our servers. The dazr.eu website is a static site with no analytics cookies, no third-party trackers and no advertising. The search proxy and site-report tool work without an account; queries are not logged against your identity. This page goes through it product by product.

Who we are

Dazr, based in Italy. We are the data controller for any personal data we hold about you in connection with this website, the browser and the tools we host. Reach us at privacy@dazr.eu.

The Dazr browser

The browser does not collect, transmit or store any user data on our servers. Specifically:

No telemetry. The browser sends no analytics, usage statistics, crash reports or diagnostic data to us or any third party.
No accounts. There is no sign-in, no sync service, no user accounts. Your browsing data stays on your device.
No unsolicited network requests. The browser does not phone home. It does not ping our servers on startup, during use or on shutdown.
Browsing history, bookmarks, cookies and settings are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted.
Search queries entered in the address bar are sent to our search proxy hosted on European servers. Queries are not logged, stored or associated with any identifier; the proxy forwards the query to upstream search providers and returns results without recording anything.
Update checks contact our European servers to check for new versions. These requests carry only the current version number and operating system. No identifying information.
DNS queries are sent over DNS-over-HTTPS to dns0.eu (primary) and Quad9 (fallback), both European non-profit providers. We do not operate these services and have no access to query logs.
Phishing protection uses locally cached blocklists from OpenPhish, PhishTank and URLhaus. URLs you visit are checked against local data only and are never sent to a remote API.
Ad and tracker blocking uses locally cached filter lists (EasyList, EasyPrivacy, uBlock). All blocking decisions are made on your device.
Geolocation requests are routed through Beacondb, a European open-source location service. We do not process or store location data.

The dazr.eu website

The website is a static site. We do not use cookies for analytics or tracking. We use a privacy-friendly aggregate analytics service that does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, does not track individual users across pages or sessions, and does not store IP addresses; it provides aggregate page-view counts only.

Server logs (IP, user-agent, requested URL, status, timestamp) are kept for 30 days for operations and security. Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating the site.

The website uses no third-party fonts, no embedded social media widgets and no advertising networks. There is no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Mixpanel.

The search proxy

Search queries are forwarded to upstream search providers from our EU servers. We do not log queries against your IP, do not associate them with an identifier, and do not retain a record of what was searched. The upstream provider sees the query but not your IP (because our proxy fronts the request).

The site-report (audit) tool

You enter a URL and we run a privacy / security audit on it. The result is cached against the URL, not against your identity. Server logs and rate-limit counters apply per IP, expire on a short window and are never sold or shared.

The Enterprise contact form on the marketing pages

If you submit the contact form, we receive your name, work email, company, optional phone, message and the framework your enquiry is about. Used to reply to you and to record the lead. Legal basis: pre-contractual measures at your request and legitimate interest in selling our products. Retention: 24 months from last contact.

If you subscribe, we hold your email address and a confirmation flag. Legal basis: consent. Withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link in any newsletter, or by emailing privacy@dazr.eu. Retention: until you unsubscribe, then deleted within 30 days.

What we never do

We never sell your personal data. To anyone. For any purpose.
We never serve advertising or work with ad networks.
We never include third-party trackers, web beacons or pixels.
We never train AI models on your browsing history, your searches or any content you put into our tools.
We never combine browser data, search data or website data into a single profile of you. They are separate by design.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to, and port your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights email privacy@dazr.eu; we respond within 30 days.

The supervisory authority for our Italian operations is the Italian Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali (garanteprivacy.it). You can also complain to the supervisory authority where you live.

Where data is stored

All data we hold (newsletter list, contact-form submissions, server logs, support email) is stored within the European Union. Where a sub-processor we use is established outside the EU, transfers are governed by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses; the current sub-processors are at /legal/subprocessors.

Changes

If we change anything material, we update the date at the top and post a notice on the home page. Past versions are available on request.
