Privacy Policy
Overview
Dazr is a privacy-focused browser built in Europe. This policy explains how we handle data across the Dazr browser application and the dazr.eu website. The short version: we collect as little as technically possible, and nothing leaves your device unless you explicitly trigger it.
The Dazr Browser
The Dazr browser does not collect, transmit, or store any user data on our servers. Specifically:
- No telemetry. The browser sends no analytics, usage statistics, crash reports, or diagnostic data to us or any third party.
- No accounts. There is no sign-in, no sync service, and no user accounts. Your browsing data stays on your device.
- No unsolicited network requests. The browser does not phone home. It does not ping our servers on startup, during use, or on shutdown.
- Browsing history, bookmarks, cookies, and settings are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted.
- Search queries entered in the address bar are sent to our search proxy hosted on European servers. These queries are not logged, stored, or associated with any identifier. The proxy forwards the query to upstream search providers and returns results without recording anything.
- Update checks contact our European servers to check for new versions. These requests contain only the current version number and operating system. No identifying information is sent.
- DNS queries are sent over DNS-over-HTTPS to dns0.eu (primary) and Quad9 (fallback), both European non-profit providers. We do not operate these services and have no access to query logs.
- Phishing protection uses locally cached blocklists from OpenPhish, PhishTank, and URLhaus. URLs you visit are checked against local data only and are never sent to a remote API.
- Ad and tracker blocking uses locally cached filter lists (EasyList, EasyPrivacy, uBlock). All blocking decisions are made on your device.
- Geolocation requests are routed through Beacondb, a European open-source location service. We do not process or store location data.
The dazr.eu Website
The dazr.eu website is a static site. We do not use cookies for analytics or tracking. We do not use any third-party analytics services (no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Fathom, nothing). We do not track visitors, page views, or referral sources.
The website does not load any third-party resources. All fonts use the system font stack built into your operating system. No external requests are made when loading the site.
Data We Process
When you use the search functionality on dazr.eu or through the browser's address bar, your search query is processed in memory to fetch results from upstream providers. Queries are not logged or stored. Server access logs may temporarily contain IP addresses for operational purposes (e.g., abuse prevention) but are automatically deleted within 24 hours.
Third-Party Services
The following third-party services may receive data as part of normal browser or website operation:
- dns0.eu / Quad9 - DNS resolution. Receives domain names you visit. Operated by European non-profits with their own privacy policies.
- Beacondb - Geolocation. Receives WiFi access point data when a site requests your location. European, open-source.
- Ghostery (Whotracks.me) - Filter list provider for ad/tracker blocking. Lists are downloaded and applied locally. No browsing data is sent to Ghostery.
Data Storage
All browser data (history, bookmarks, cookies, settings, cached data) is stored locally on your device. We have no access to it. If you uninstall the browser, this data is removed with it.
Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children. Since the browser collects no data, there is no age-specific concern.
Your Rights Under GDPR
Since we do not collect or store personal data, there is generally nothing to access, correct, or delete. However, if you believe we hold any data related to you (for example, from a support email), you have the right to:
- Request access to any personal data we hold
- Request correction or deletion of that data
- Object to processing
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Contact us at hello@dazr.eu for any data-related requests.
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we will note them in the browser's release notes.
