European workplaces, compared.

More organisations want a workplace made in Europe. Here are six options as they describe themselves, checked on 19 October 2026, with Dazr among them. Each one fits a different need.

Six options at a glance.

From each provider’s own pages. The sources are listed at the end of this page.

Dazr

A complete hosted workplace from Dazr, an Italian company: mail, chat and calls, calendar, contacts, files, Docs, Sheets and Slides, e-signatures, a helpdesk, projects and compliance, with one account. Data encrypted and stored in the EU. Free to start; Starter from €9 per person a month.

Office.eu

A hosted suite from EUfforic Europe B.V. in The Hague, the Netherlands, on European infrastructure. On its site, EU Drive is live, and Docs, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Calendar, Talk and Email are listed as coming soon.

Euro-Office

openDesk

An open source office and collaboration suite for public administration, from ZenDiS, a company of the German federal government. Run it in your own data centre, as SaaS from national hyperscalers, or as the free Community Edition.

Nextcloud Hub

Open source files, Talk, calendar, contacts, mail and office from Nextcloud GmbH in Germany, which you run on your own servers or with a hosting provider.

Proton

Mail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Pass, VPN and Meet from Proton AG in Geneva, Switzerland. Workspace Standard is listed at USD 12.99 per user a month, billed yearly.

How to choose.

Three questions decide most of it.

Hosted, or run it yourself?

Dazr, Office.eu and Proton are hosted services you sign up for. openDesk and Nextcloud you run on your own servers or with a provider, and Euro-Office adds editors to such platforms.

A whole workplace, or one part?

Dazr covers mail, chat, calendar, files, documents, signatures, helpdesk, projects and compliance under one account. Euro-Office covers the editors; Nextcloud and openDesk combine several open source parts.

Where is the company based?

Dazr is in Italy, Office.eu in the Netherlands, Nextcloud and ZenDiS in Germany. Proton is in Switzerland, which is in Europe but outside the EU.

Why teams pick Dazr.

Everything a company needs every day, ready the day you sign up.

One calm workplace

Mail, chat and calls, calendar, documents, signatures, a helpdesk, projects and compliance, made by one team and opened with one account. Learn one app and you know them all.

Your Office files as they are

Dazr Docs, Sheets and Slides open and save real .docx, .xlsx and .pptx files, so anyone with Office can keep working on them.

Moving is automatic

From Microsoft 365, your admin approves Dazr once and Dazr moves everyone’s files, mail, contacts and calendars, server to server.

Questions, answered.

Which European alternative to Microsoft 365 is best?

It depends on what you need. For one hosted workplace with mail, files, documents and more under one account, Dazr is ready the day you sign up. To run everything on your own servers, look at openDesk or Nextcloud.

Is Euro-Office the same as Office.eu?

No. Euro-Office is open source editing software from an alliance of European companies. Office.eu is one of its members and runs its own hosted suite.

Where is our data with Dazr?

Encrypted and stored in the EU, by Dazr, an Italian company. The trust centre names every provider we build on.
